After earning a degree in Business & Economics, as well as Biblical Studies, from Wheaton College, Mark was invited to join Southwestern Investment Group. *The Forbes Best-In-State Wealth Advisors 2024 ranking, developed by SHOOK Research, is based on an algorithm of qualitative criteria, mostly gained through telephone and in-person due diligence interviews, and quantitative data. This ranking is based upon the period from 6/30/2022 to 6/30/2023 and was released on 4/3/2024. Those advisors that are considered have a minimum of seven years of experience, and the algorithm weighs factors like revenue trends, assets under management, compliance records, industry experience and those that encompass best practices in their practices and approach to working with clients. Portfolio performance is not a criteria due to varying client objectives and lack of audited data. Out of approximately 44,990 nominations, roughly 8,500 advisors received the award. This ranking is not indicative of an advisor’s future performance, is not an endorsement, and may not be representative of individual clients’ experience. Neither Raymond James nor any of its Financial Advisors or RIA firms pay a fee in exchange for this award/rating. Compensation provided for using the rating. Raymond James is not affiliated with Forbes or Shook Research, LLC. Please visit https://www.forbes.com/best-in-state-wealth-advisors for more info.

**Membership is based on prior fiscal year production. Re-qualification is required annually. This recognition may not be representative of any one client’s experience, is not an endorsement, and is not indicative of future performance. Financial Advisors do not pay a fee in exchange for membership.

While looking from afar, it was important that AJ found the right company—not just the right position before relocating. He could tell that SageSpring offered both, and that he could best position the organization and himself for the future in a company as dynamic as SageSpring. From his first interview, AJ could easily feel the pride his coworkers take in their work. The family-like atmosphere makes a growing firm still feel small.

When not in the office, AJ enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, and watching Washington Capitals hockey. He has every James Bond movie on DVD and loves watching them in his self-designed home theater, much to the chagrin of his neighbors.

Michelle Johns

Facilities Manager

After more than 12 years at our corporate headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee, Michelle Johns wanted to explore other opportunities within the Southwestern Family of Companies. She transitioned to the Dobyns Wealth Team in 2016 as a client operations specialist and moved into the role of Facilities Manager two years later.

As the Facilities Manager, Michelle oversees the needs of each office to ensure they run effectively and efficiently, meeting the facilities requests of staff and clients.

Michelle moved to the team because, after consideration, she felt that SageSpring was the right fit for her. She loves the people, the culture, and the vibe of the office. “It’s like one big family,” affirms Michelle.

Michelle and her husband, Chris, live on a small farm south of Franklin, Tennessee, where they enjoy playing with their grandchildren. When she’s not in the office, Michelle loves gardening and entertaining her family and friends.

Client Services

As a Client Services Associate, Jane Cormack assists our team with client paperwork, client fund requests, online access, and remote branch duties. She is integral to SageSpring’s operations and finds a great deal of fulfillment in supporting clients as they discover their financial needs and potential.

Jane began her career in banking. However, her career took a turn when she found herself working with a multi-million dollar performing arts center that asked her to establish and run its Human Resources Department as the Director. After a while, Jane felt called to leave the business world and went to volunteer with The Stephen’s Ministry, helping people heal through challenging life events. She ultimately reentered the business world when she had a life event of her own, and she finally landed at SageSpring.

Led to SageSpring after meeting one of our clients, Jane inquired about an assistant position; and as they say, the rest is history. She considers her connection to SageSpring a Divine appointment. Jane loves SageSpring’s core focus, purpose, and values because they align with her own. She especially enjoys connecting with clients to give them the caring, personal approach we value.

Jane has been married for over 30 years to her husband, Marc, and enjoys spending time with him and discussing the different books they are each reading. They have two cats they adore and can be accused of treating them like children, given they don’t have any. She also enjoys painting, crocheting, and learning brush lettering.

Faith, passion, and hard work help lead you to your personal and financial success. Tyler’s passion surrounds leading and coaching those around him to become the best versions of themselves, and in the process, helping them achieve financial confidence. He helps people make wise decisions with money while walking alongside them to assist in reaching their financial goals. He grew up in the church, and faith is a big part of his life. He has peace in Christ knowing that while we are assured nothing in this world, her external salvation is assured. Leaning on him through this period has helped Tyler get through. He is a “Planner” by profession, but he has come to understand that does not mean “Controller.”

Growing up on the island of Kauai, Hawaii, he gained an early perspective on the rewards that come with success through those vacationing on the island. Conversely, his grandfather was a profound role model with very different values. His grandfather was a young adult as he faced the Great Depression of the 1930s. He often reflects on the summers he spent with him talking about the value of hard work, a good education, and living on less than you make. He is grateful to have a career that leads him to remember his grandfather’s lessons daily. His love for him and his memory drives how Tyler serves those around him.

Those he serves, deserve a consummate professional, and that is who he strives to be. He majored in business and finance at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He obtained the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER”‘ certification. He also taught the program curriculum as an adjunct professor through the University of Dallas. He has always connected with Dave Ramsey’s words to “have a heart of a teacher”. He loves sharing his passion for financial planning in simple and memorable ways. He is energized to help others achieve their goals and help them discover new doors. He is blessed that his hard work feels light.

Matt Atchison

Senior Executive Vice President

I grew up in small-town Nebraska (Holdrege & Columbus) where I was lucky enough to detassel corn, deliver newspapers, and open a baseball card shop in my basement. I met my wife, Chelsea, about the same time I got my driver’s license.

I attended Creighton University where I studied lots of things, mainly History. I interned each of my college summers with the Southwestern Company where I relocated to New England and learned how to run a business, connect with people, lead myself, and lead others.

I became a financial planner in 2012 and have dedicated my professional years since then learning how to use investments and advice to help clients and friends make the most meaning with their money and their time. I’m lucky enough to work on a team with five other amazing financial professionals to collectively care for and guide our personal clients with investment advice and tax planning.

I am also a senior executive vice president, board member, and a managing partner for our investment firm, SageSpring Wealth Partners. We are primarily based out of Nashville, Dallas, and Omaha. I’m largely focused on leading our advisor development (45 senior wealth advisors and teams). Great advisors need to be healthy leaders that are well-developed in providing both the science and the art of wealth management.

At home in Gretna, Chelsea and I have three really fun kids; Molly, Ben and Sam. I coach as many of their sports teams as they will allow me. I do my best to follow my own advice regarding money, time and making meaning. We love to travel the world with our kids, do yard work and chores, and eat dinner together as frequently as possible. We root for both the Jays and Huskers in our house. When I make time for a few things I love, it would be golf, single malt scotch, and an evening walk with Chelsea around our neighborhood while taking in a classic Nebraska sunset.

Cash Tunstall

Executive Vice President

Although an appropriate name considering his vocation, Cash was named after an inspirational friend of his parents. He grew up in Kentucky in his family’s equine business and studied at Asbury University where he met his wife of more than 15 years. Cash, Lauren, and their two young children live in Franklin, Tennessee.

Cash began his career in Nashville with The Southwestern Company in 2005 and was introduced to the financial services division, now SageSpring, as a client of the firm. Today, at SageSpring, Cash also serves as an Advisor Development Leader, and enjoys mentoring, coaching, and supporting advisors in their professional growth and service to clients. This is typically the part of the bio in which one may share about pastimes and hobbies. However, between this business, his romantic relationship with Lauren, and being a constant instigator of his kids – there is not a lot of free time. If there is any to speak of, Cash can be found tinkering and DIYing on the house and in the garage, usually creating more problems than the ones he is fixing.

Jeff’s financial expertise and wisdom are the perfect match to his innate people skills. Jeff holds the prestigious CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM certification, Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®), and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChLU®) designations, and has held executive positions with financial planning firms for more than two decades.

His dedication extends beyond the office to the boardroom and the local community, where Jeff is passionate about giving back. Jeff also serves on the board of Send Musicians to Prison, which shares hope, healing and restoration with the imprisoned through musicians & artists. Jeff actively supports other initiatives in the community by sitting on the board of The Signatry of Middle Tennessee and the Halftime Institute of Nashville.

Witnessing his four children, Gracyn, Hunter, Tanner, and Logan, excel on the field is almost just as rewarding, if not more, than celebrating the victories of seeing his clients overcome obstacles and build wealth. Spending weekends boating on the lake, hiking mountain trails, and fishing with his family are the moments Jeff cherishes most. It’s this grounded perspective that reveals the true meaning of wealth for Jeff: not just numbers on a page, but the freedom to create experiences that enrich your life and the lives of those you love. When you choose the Dobyns McMillin Wealth Team, you choose more than financial expertise. You choose a partner who champions your dreams, celebrates your victories, and walks besides you on the path to achieving your unique goals.
